SAWHOYAMAXA

The Sawhoyamaxa community is in the final process of regaining possession of its ancestral lands after years of struggle.

The Executive ratified the legislation passed by National Congress authorizing the government to expropriate over 14,000 hectares of land to be returned to the Sawhoyamaxa community and thus complying with the 2006 ruling of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

This photo exhibition promotes the ongoing strive of the Sawhoyamaxa community for the recovery of the ancestral lands, and the commitment of the government of Paraguay to fully accept and act upon relevant international instruments on the rights of indigenous people.

iDEA

The objects located in a new place, decontextualized from their usual environment and its natural function, pose for the camera in a different way. They stop being what they are to become just images. They loose their importance by themselves, leading to an idea, a concept, where the interaction with the viewer's imagination turns them into art.

Inspired by simple objects and free observation, three Paraguayan photographers present their vission through the minimalism of the form and the subtlety of black and white.

A photographic exhibition where the iDEA is the protagonist ... the item is just a support and the master work is an intellectual process.

RICE FIELDS

Rice is the first food most widely used in Asia, and Indonesia is one of the world's leading producers of this grain. Through the development of terracing techniques and community collaboration, Indonesia has gone through thousands of years in the cultivation of rice.

The Indonesian Business and Cultural Centre IBCC in Paraguay presents the exhibition with a small collection of images of rice workers in the plantations in Java, in the context of the "Indonesian Cuisine" dinners.

PORT OF ASUNCION

Juan Manuel Prieto (1942-2006) was a well known and respected Paraguayan journalist, teacher and photographer, always inspired by the national reality.

He traveled around the country capturing with his camera several traditions and landscapes, published in various media.

In tribute to his work and following his serie "Ports", four young Paraguayans photographers present their own interpretation of the place, bringing a collection of images that provide insight into the port of Asuncion, following its day from dawn to dusk.
